New Baby Themed Cookie Gifts

Welcome baby cookie bouquet

The Gift of Cookies

What do you get for a newborn baby who has everything? She has parents who adore her, happy aunts, uncles, and grandparents, plenty of clean onesies, and diapers galore. In these situations, it's very hard to shop for something fun and wonderful!

Why not give her excited, and tired, parents a treat? Here are some newborn baby cookie gift ideas to help you say, "Congratulations!"

Baby, Baby

For this easy gift, all you need is some baby-themed cookie cutters, which are available inexpensively at online stores and department stores with decorating sections.

Add your favorite sugar cookie recipe, royal icing, craft sticks or skewers, and plenty of decorating creativity, and you have a gorgeous gift waiting to be baked.

  1. Prepare your sugar cookie dough and chill for at least hour.
  2. Roll dough out, making it a bit thicker than normal.
  3. Dip your cookie cutters into powdered sugar and cut your baby shapes out.
  4. Insert a wooden skewer or craft stick into the bottom of the cookie.
  5. Bake until edges are golden brown.
  6. Let cookies cool completely.
  7. Flood the cookies with royal icing. When you make your royal icing, simply water it down until it is a near-liquid consistency. Apply to cookie with a condiment bottle or spatula. Let dry - overnight if possible.
  8. When dry and hardened, decorate your cookies with royal icing and a decorating bag with small tip. You can customize the cookies or write a cute message to the parents.
  9. Arrange as you would a cookie bouquet in a pail with Styrofoam or florist's foam.

Note: if the decorated sugar cookies are not going to be eaten immediately, wrap each one and tie a ribbon on the stick.

A Star is Born

If you love baking cookies, chances are you have a star-shaped cookie cutter on hand already. Put it to good use!

All you need to do is follow the steps above; instead of using the baby-themed cutters, using the star. Decorate with sprinkles, colored sugar, and other goodies. On one cookie, use royal icing to pipe, "A Star is Born."

You can make this into a cookie bouquet or arrange the cookies in a nice container for Mom and Dad.

Baby Face Cookies

Nutritious and Delicious

After having a baby, breastfeeding moms need extra nutrition, and most moms want to watch what they eat so they can get their pre-pregnancy bodies back. You can still give a wonderful gift of baby cookies, but why not make them healthier so parents can have a treat without overindulging?
