No Bake Cookies That Kids Can Make
There is no greater skill you can offer your child than the ability to cook. Not only does it provide valuable reinforcement for vocabulary, reading comprehension, and math skills, but it also offers them an essential life skill that can only lead to better health and nutrition down the road. With kids, though, you have to start simple and delicious, and no bake cookies are a great way to help empower them in the kitchen. Plus, when the cookies are done, you can teach them how to share and create a tasty cookie arrangement for friends or family!
No-Bake Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies
This is certain to be one of your child’s favorite recipes because it’s easy and delicious. You’ll need two cups of sugar, a dash of salt, a half cup of butter, a cup of peanut butter, a teaspoon of vanilla, and three cups of oatmeal. Boil the sugar, salt, butter and milk for one full minute. Remove from heat and add the peanut butter and vanilla. Add the oatmeal and stir until it is well mixed. Drop by teaspoonful on wax paper. Cool until set.
Pumpkin No Bake Cookies
If you want a slightly healthier recipe, this is certainly one you’ll want to offer your child. The ingredients list is a half cup of butter, a half cup of milk, a half cup of pumpkin puree, two cups of sugar, a half teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, three-quarters of a cup of chopped pecans, three cups of rolled oats, and three-quarters of a cup of quick oats. You’ll want to melt the butter in a pan. Add the milk, pumpkin, and sugar. Stir well. Heat to a boil, then remove from the heat and stir in the nuts and the oats. Drop by spoonfuls onto the wax paper. Refrigerate an hour. Be sure to store these delicious little treats in the refrigerator.
No Bake Granola Bites
Looking for a cookie you can feel good about? This is a great choice, and your child might like it better than those store-bought granola bars. You’ll need a quarter cup of butter, a quarter cup of honey, a third cup of brown sugar, two cups of quick oats, a cup of crispy rice cereal, a half-teaspoon of vanilla, and two tablespoons of chocolate chips. Begin by stirring the oats and rice cereal together in a bowl. In a small pan, melt the butter, honey, and brown sugar together until it begins to boil. Reduce the heat and cook for two minutes. Pour in the vanilla and stir carefully. Pour it all over the dry ingredients and mix well. Pour into a jelly roll pan and press out to ¾ inch thickness. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips. Cool to room temperature and cut to whatever size you like.
Does anything go together quite as well as peanut butter and chocolate? Your little chefs will love this recipe for the taste, but you’ll love it because it’s very kid safe. You’ll need 1 ½ cups of peanut butter, a cup of softened butter, a half teaspoon of vanilla, six cups of powdered sugar, and four cups of semisweet chocolate chips. In a bowl, mix the peanut butter, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar. The dough will look really dry at this point, and that’s fine. Roll it into one inch balls and put on a cookie sheet that’s lined with wax paper. Put a toothpick in the top of each ball, then place the cookie sheet in the freezer for thirty minutes. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate chips until smooth. Dip the frozen balls in them, holding onto the toothpick as you do. Leave a bit of peanut butter showing at the top. Refrigerate until you’re ready to serve.
